A record number of participants teed off against child abuse and neglect at the 8th Annual Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) Golf Outing Aug. 7 at the Tam O'Shanter Club in Brookville.

At the outing at the Tam O'Shanter Club in Brookville are committee members Adam Silvers, partner with Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, PC; Bettina Finn, member of CAPS Board of Directors; Alane Fagin, executive director of CAPS; Ari Kovant, committee chairman and president of AKA Advertising; Michael Wach, executive vice president of advertising sales for the YES Network; and Al Azralon, senior vice president of technology for Cablevision. Stephen Silverstein, president of Sandata Technologies, Inc., also served on the committee.

A field of 103 golfers took part in the outing which raised $125,000 to benefit CAPS, Long Island's leading organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect.

The event also saw the presentation of the 1st Annual John Davis Memorial Award to Dom Camera, managing general partner of Dom Camera & Co., LLC. The award, named for the founder of the CAPS Golf Outing and a former member of CAPS' Executive Advisory Board, was given to Camera in recognition of his commitment to helping CAPS prevent child abuse and neglect in all of its forms. The John Davis Memorial Award is sponsored by the Young Presidents' Organization's Long Island chapter.

"In each of the last three school years volunteers from CAPS have presented student programs in more than 1,000 Long Island classrooms, and the proceeds of this event help us provide those programs to schools at no charge," said Alane Fagin, executive director of CAPS. "We're grateful to all those who took part in our outing to support our efforts to keep every child safe from harm."

Founded in 1982, the Roslyn-based Child Abuse Prevention Services is Long Island's comprehensive resource center for the prevention of child abuse, bullying and peer harassment.
