Among the highlights during the Awards Ceremony of the June 25 Nick Katsounis Memorial Wheelchair Championship 10 Kilometer Race was the presentation of a special award to Westbury resident Joe King, CEO of Antun's Caterers in Queens Village. For the past several years, Antun's has been the lead sponsor of the race, and King has been one of the keystones of the race committee that stages the event.

Westbury's Joe King (second from left) accepts the award from Race Announcer Bob Molinatti, Race Director Geri Walsh and Deputy Race Director Joe Mendez.

"Joe is an outstanding human being whose generosity to the wheelchair athletics community has enabled the Race to be the success that it has been over the years," said Race Director Geri Walsh of the host Greater Long Island Running Club. "We appreciate his support and are pleased to recognize it with this special award."

The Nick Katsounis Memorial Wheelchair Championship Race is one of the most important wheelchair races in the world, which this year brought athletes from six continents to Long Island.
