Westbury Okinawa Karate Testing
Westbury Okinawan Karate, which trains in the Westbury Recreation Department, had a special test on June 19. Students that met the attendance requirements and demonstrated the proficiency of the skills that were required for the next belt level were tested. The following students passed their test and were advanced to the next belt color:

Clarke's Appell Competes in HIP Grand Slam Challenge
Westbury resident Michael Appell, a pitcher/first baseman for W.T. Clarke High School, competed in the second annual HIP Grand Slam Challenge at Citibank Park with over 1,300 cheering fans in attendance. The exciting game ended with the Suffolk County All-Stars defeating the Nassau County All-Stars, 11-8, giving Suffolk two straight wins.
