ShOA Officials: Correction Officers Are In Danger
Safety conditions at the Nassau County Correctional Facility, according to the Sheriff Officers Association (ShOA), the union that represents the correction officers at the East Meadow-based maximum-security facility, are being comprised. According to ShOA officials, consolidation methods, at the hand of Sheriff Edward Reilly, are placing inmates and law enforcement officers, as well as visitors and civilian workers, at risk.

In Westbury, Second Times a Charm
A difference of 10 votes means that the Westbury School District will not have to operate on a contingency budget for the 2006-2007 school year. During a budget revote, held June 20, residents vote 803 to 793 in favor of the $85.3 million spending plan after defeated it a month earlier by a mere 16 votes.

WABA-Westbury Little League Returns to New Cassel
Little League baseball returned to "Bunky" Reid Park in New Cassel for the first time in more than a decade on June 3. The re-introduction of Little League play in New Cassel was the result of a collaboration between North Hempstead Town and the Westbury Amateur Baseball Association (WABA).
