'Studio' Now Open on Drexel Avenue
Longtime resident Nancy Colleary recently brought the world of art and photography to Drexel Avenue in Westbury. The residential block right off of Post Avenue is now the home of The Studio. In opening the art studio and gallery, Colleary turned the village's former healing magnet store into a place where people can come to enjoy their love for art.

Property Tax Relief Topic of Republican Assembly Roundtable
New York State Assemblyman Rob Walker (R-Hicksville, 15th District) along with members of the Nassau County Assembly Republican delegation held a roundtable discussion May 19 that touched upon what had become an extremely popular issue these days - property tax relief for Long Island residents. The Assembly Republican Steering Committee sponsored the event, which took place at the Farmingdale Public Library and is part of a series of roundtable events being held throughout New York State.

All Stars Take Memorial Day Competition
Over Memorial Day Weekend 2006, the "Bunky" Reid All Stars 14U Travel Team participated in the John Salmons Invitational in West Chester, PA. The team went 5-0 winning every game by 20 or more points against some of the best AAU teams in the Pennsylvania area. In the semifinals, the "Bunky" Reid All Stars beat the Youth Interlock 78-41 and, in the finals, the team beat the host team, the Keystone Blazers by a score of 73-53. Coach Mike Jackson was very proud of the team and is looking forward to more success this summer.

SUNY Old Westbury Athletes Named Skyline Conference All-Stars
Three student-athletes from SUNY College at Old Westbury were among those recognized when officials of the Skyline Conference announced the all-conference honors in baseball and softball. Old Westbury's Katora Russell and Darly Alcantara were named first team All-Skyline in softball and baseball, respectively, while Ramon Geronimo was named second team All-Skyline in baseball.
