North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman, Councilman Robert Troiano, Nassau County Legislator Roger Corbin, New York State Assemblyman Charles Lavine, Deputy County Executive Patrick Duggan, Bishop Lionel Harvey and a host of community leaders broke ground May 26 on the second project in the overall program to totally revitalize and rehabilitate New Cassel's Prospect Avenue Corridor.

Westbury Boys V Track Wins Nassau Class AA Championships
On May 24, the Westbury Boys Varsity Track Team won the Nassau County Class AA Championship, which took place at Mitchel Field. The team, which earned a Division Championship on May 16, will be recognized at the June 22 Westbury Board of Education meeting.

Avengers U11 Travel Soccer Team Tryouts June 13 and 15
The Hicksville Avengers will hold tryouts for the fall 2006 U11 boys travel soccer team at 4:30 p.m. on both Tuesday, June 13 and Thursday, June 15 at Triangle Park in Hicksville. Players trying out should wear appropriate soccer attire and shin guards and bring water. The club website, www.hicksvillesoccerclub.com, has all the league rules governing travel soccer.
