Three Westbury High School Facilities Department employees are being hailed heroes after they risked their lives and rescued two students trapped in a car that went on fire after being involved in an accident on May 5.

Mulumba Kazigo Receives 20-Year Sentence
Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced that Mulumba Kazigo was sentenced May 10 to 20 years in prison for killing his father in August 2005. Dr. Joseph Kazigo, 67, an emergency room physician at Nassau University Medical Center, was murdered in his Westbury apartment.

Register for Village Rec Summer Playground Program
The Village of Westbury Recreation Department is accepting applications for a six-week summer playground program, which begins July 10 and ends Aug. 18. The summer program runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to children ages 3 to 12. Registration is available for two-, three-, four- and five-week sessions. Various trips are planned to local parks, museums, etc. and the cost is $600 for village residents; $750 for non-residents. For more information, call 334-5560 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Space is limited.
