Carle Place High School Celebrates Golden Anniversary
During the past 50 years, more than 6,500 students, 550 teachers and hundreds of staff members have graced the halls of Carle Place High School. On March 24 and March 25 alumni, current and retired staff members as well as community members participated in the 50th Anniversary Celebration.

How to Protect Your Child From Sexual Predators
On April 6, New York State Assemblyman Rob Walker (15th A.D.) and the Coalition Against Child Abuse and Neglect (CCAN) held a forum on "Protecting Your Children from Sexual Predators" at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library. The event featured a discussion on how parents can keep their children safe as well as signs of abuse and Internet safety tips.

NYIT's Jack Kaley Named College Coach of the Year
Jack Kaley, New York Institute of Technology's (NYIT) head mens lacrosse coach, has been named College Coach of the Year by the Nassau County Sports Commission (NCSC) and will be honored at the NCSC's 12th annual awards ceremony May 1.

SUNY's Marjahna Vickers Named Female College Coach of the Year
Old Westbury women's volleyball coach, Marjahna Vickers Segers, has been named the College Female Coach of the Year by the Nassau County Sports Commission (NCSC), a not-for-profit agency that is committed to enhancing the quality of life for Nassau County residents through sport and physical activity. Criteria for the award include overall excellence and success combining athletics, academics and community service. The award will be given out at the 2006 NCSC Annual Awards Dinner held at the Chateau Briand on May 1.
