Village Mourns Dedicated Educator, Trustee
Charles Russell Passes Away --
Community and academic activist Charles R. Russell Jr., a longtime resident of Westbury, passed away on April 8 at Long Island Jewish of complications caused from a stroke suffered late last year. Mr. Russell, a village trustee and former school board member, was 71 years old.

The Mineola-based Nassau County Bar Association held a seminar March 28 on the rights of special education students and the planning of their financial future. The seminar addressed how a child with special needs enters the system, the basics of the law and process that govern these children, understanding classification of disabilities, how to advocate for your child and what to do when discipline becomes an issue.

The Kiwanis of New Cassel held their Sixth annual Bowling to Fight MS fundraiser recently at Syosset Lanes. The club has been helping The National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society by holding this fundraiser annually since 2000 and has, over the past six years, helped raised over $5,000.
