Racing for Recovery Author to Speak at April 18 GLIRC Meeting
The featured speakers at the Greater Long Island Running Club's (GLIRC) Tuesday, April 18 meeting will be John Hanc and Todd Crandell, co-authors of the new book Racing for Recovery: From Addict to Ironman, which focusing on Crandell's true story of hitting rock bottom and rising back to life through swimming, biking and running. Crandell rose from the depths of addiction and depression to become an Ironman triathlete and role model through the creation of his nonprofit Racing for Recovery Foundation.
Clarke Wrestler Breaks Three Decade-Long Pin Record
On Feb. 19, W.T. Clarke High School's Mike Palmer won the 2006 Nassau County High School Wrestling Championship at 145 pounds, earning the Most Outstanding Wrestler and Champion of Champions awards. In addition, at the Divisional Championships on Feb. 11, Mike set a new school record for the quickest pin in Clarke's wrestling history.
