Pataki Awards Westbury Village $200K for Downtown Revitalization
On Friday, Oct. 21, Governor George E. Pataki was joined by state and local officials in the Incorporated Village of Westbury to announce a total of $600,000 in awards to Nassau County through the state's Main Street Program. The program is designed to stimulate downtown revitalization in communities by providing funding for building renovations, streetscape enhancements and downtown business or cultural anchors.

'Hump'; Pilot Reflects on 60-Year Journey
After six decades, the China-Burma-India (CBI) Hump Pilots Association held its 60th and final reunion last month and Carle Place resident Ernest Chester was not one to miss it. Now 88 years old, Chester, arrived in Nashville, TN on Sept. 27 for the four-day long reunion. The event, the last for the association, was also Chester's last hoorah as he gathered with some 430 fellow "hump" pilots and crew and their families.

26th Annual CPCA Family Fun Run/Walk Day
The 26th Annual Carle Place Civic Association's (CPCA) Fun Run/Walk Day took place on Sunday, Oct. 23 throughout the streets of the community. The event was a huge success with over 140 walkers and runners as well as many observers along the way and at the finish line.

This year, the East Meadow Falcons U15 Soccer Team came in first place, earning the 2005 Northeast Premiere Soccer League Championship Title. The team has an excellent track record with excellence in competition and the administration of the sport.
