  • News: Mulumba Kazigo Indicted for Murder of Father

    Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon announced that a grand jury has indicted Mulumba Kazigo, 26, of Lincolndale, NY for the murder of his father Dr. Zirabamuzaale (Joseph) Kazigo, an emergency room surgeon at Nassau University Medical Center, on Aug. 26, 2005. The charges included in the indictment are two counts of murder - 2nd degree (intentional and felony), both Class A felonies; one count of burglary - 1st degree, a Class B felony; and one count of tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony.   • News: Politicians, Citizens Alike Oppose MTA/LIRR Third Track Plan

    Politicians and citizens alike once again publicly criticized the Metropolitan Transportation Authority/Long Island Rail Road's (MTA/LIRR) failure to "think outside the box." They stood united against the controversial proposal to construct an additional track along the LIRR Main Line. Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray held the press conference at the Floral Park Train Station Aug. 31, the deadline for filing public comments for inclusion in the official MTA third track project record.   • Sports: Old Westbury's Carl and Louise Levine to Be Honored at Inaugural Golf and Tennis Championship

    Old Westbury residents Carl and Louise Levine and Dallas native Ed Butowsky, community and corporate leaders, will be honored by the Jewish Theological Seminary at the 2005 Inaugural JTS Golf and Tennis Championship.     Support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) by participating in the Long Island 5K Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Sunday, Sept. 25 at Old Westbury Gardens in Old Westbury. Proceeds will benefit local and national suicide prevention programs.
