I was disappointed in your August 11 lead article "Council Candidate Accuses Incumbent of Violating Town Code." I expected to read a juicy expose revealing that Robert Troiano was renting substandard housing to at least 20 individuals living in squalor without proper fire egress.

Instead, I discover that Robert Troiano is renting a legal two family house to two families living safely. I also discovered that the house is appropriately assessed and taxed. The so-called "investigation," or more properly called "laughable attempt at muckraking," says more about Mr. Moroney than about Mr. Troiano.

As for District Attorney Denis Dillon, the case is closed. Robert Troiano is receiving "preferential treatment" from Mr. Moroney or does Mr. Moroney intend, if elected, to root out all the "unfiled," misfiled," "I didn't know I had to file" and "I thought the contractor filed" paperwork attached to the properties of many, if not most, honest taxpaying citizens.

Meanwhile, what is happening in the ongoing search for illegal, dangerously devoid of fire egress, substandard housing in the Westbury area?
