Queens Man Indicted for Murder of New Cassel Woman
Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon announced Aug. 9 that 34-year-old Marlon Fann of Corona was indicted by a grand jury for the murder of 23-year-old New Cassel resident Merline Port-Louis. He was arraigned in front of Nassau County Court Judge David Sullivan in Mineola.

Nearly $90,000 Raised at 7th Annual CAPS Golf Outing
A record field of golfers teed off against child abuse and neglect as Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS), Long Island's leading organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect, hosted its 7th Annual Charity Golf Outing in August at the Tam O'Shanter Club in Brookville. An event-record 96 golfers took part in the outing, which raised nearly $90,000 to benefit CAPS.

SCO Family Services Run September 3
The annual SCO Family of Services Peter Speranza 5K Run to Help the Children will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3. This annual 5K race, which winds through the scenic Victorian streets of Sea Cliff, benefits the developmentally disabled and physically challenged children who live at St. Christopher's Home on the Sea Cliff campus of SCO Family of Services.
