Former New Cassel Man Comes Full Circle
More than 30 years after leaving his hometown of New Cassel, Bruce Codrington reflects on his past; through the words and thoughts in his book, Full Circle: From Addiction to Affection. A current resident of Georgia, Codrington's book, published last October, details his successful journey overcoming incarcerations, depression and a heroin addiction.
TNH Code Enforcement Cleans Up Grand Street Property
North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilman Robert Troiano announced that the garbage that created an eyesore at 208 Grand Street has been removed. The removal of assorted items of debris and trash, which included old furniture and yard waste, was due to the efforts of the Town of North Hempstead's Department of Public Safety. Officers from the code enforcement division aggressively tracked down the absentee landlord all the way to Florida and served him with a Notice of Violation on the property.
Registration Under Way for Village Rec Summer Playground Program
The Village of Westbury Recreation Department is accepting applications for a six-week summer playground program, which begins July 11 and ends Aug. 19. The summer program runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to children ages 3 to 11. Registration is available for two-, three-, four- and five-week sessions. Various trips are planned to local parks, museums, etc. For more information, call 334-5560 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Space is limited.
Registration for Girls' Lacrosse Instruction Continues
Supervisor Kate Murray has announced that space is still available for the upcoming Town of Hempstead Lacrosse Academy instructional clinics for girls, set for Monday, July 11 through Thursday, July 14 at Speno Park in East Meadow. The boys' session at Speno Park is sold out.
