Town Holds First Carle Place Visioning Meeting
Approximately 100 Carle Place residents attended a May 16 public visioning meeting to discuss and learn about a Town of North Hempstead streetscape enhancement project to refurbish Westbury Avenue in Carle Place. At this time, Town Councilman Robert Troiano, North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Raffaela Petrasek of the architectural engineering and consulting firm Henningson Durham and Richardson (HDR) led the discussion, presented their ideas and listened to residents' suggestions on beautifying the two-lane road that goes through town.

Village of Westbury Praised As Model for New Suburbia
As part of his vision for a New Suburbia, Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi was joined by Deputy County Executive for Economic Development Patrick Duggan on Tuesday, May 17 to commend Mayor Ernest J. Strada and the Village of Westbury for their revitalization efforts in downtown Westbury. At this time, the county presented the village with a plaque congratulating them for their downtown revitalization efforts.

Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Walk 2005 June 12
The Metro NY Chapter/MGFA is seeking walkers for a two-mile non-competitive walk to raise awareness and dollars to find a cure for Myasthenia Gravis (MG), an autoimmune neuromuscular disease in which communication between nerve and muscle is impaired, causing weakness.
