The Action Party of Westbury announced its slate of candidates for the Village of Westbury election on March 15. Action Party spokesperson Steven Corte indicated that the party nominated incumbent mayor Ernest Strada and village trustees Joan Boes and Charles Russell to seek re-election to their current positions.

The Action Party Team is Trustee Charles Russell, Trustee Joan Boes and Mayor Ernest Strada. Elections for Westbury Village will take place on March 15.

"At this dynamic time in our village's history, the Action Party is committed to maintaining continuity and believes that keeping the current administration in office is critical. These three longtime residents have represented us well and we are again honored to offer them as our candidates," said Corte, adding that the party team will be running on its outstanding fiscal record, including the recent upgrade in the village's bond rating and five consecutive years of budget surpluses. The team is also proud of its accomplishments of strong code enforcement and protecting the residential character of the village, all while leading the downtown resurgence that the village is promoting in the business district.

In accepting the nomination, Mayor Strada said, "Having lived in the village my whole life, and serving this local government for many years, I can attest to this being one of the most exciting times in our history." He added, "We are seeing the fruition of some of our past initiatives and plans, and are at a crucial juncture. The village, right now, has a unique opportunity to significantly influence the shape of its future." Mayor Strada continued, "Prospects in the village have never looked brighter, but continuity of effort and vision is essential to realize our boundless potential."

Trustee Joan Boes, a community activist with years of experience as a member of village and civic associations, said, "I couldn't agree more. The administration is determined not to sit on the sidelines, but to actively make the prudent decisions that will create our future. Westbury's star is on the rise."

Trustee Russell added, "I may be the newest member of the team, but coming to the board after many years of service as the chairperson of the village's zoning board, and being thoroughly familiar with the village family, I have fit right in, and I see that we could not be more prepared to continue to take this opportune challenge head on."
