Cleaning Up Prospect Avenue in New Cassel
The UNCCRC Block Captains, who are residents and leaders in the New Cassel community, arrived with brooms, rakes, shovels and lots of garbage bags to clean up the businesses that have not been maintained for so long. The Block Captains informed the business owners that this was not simply a courteous clean up, but rather an admonition that the business owners need to take better care of their properties and that any further lapse in care for the cleanliness of Prospect Avenue business would be met with severe consequences from the Town of North Hempstead.

In Local Elections, Incumbents Prevail
In the 13th Assembly District, Charles Lavine defeated Phillip Sciarillo, Sr. and current Assemblyman David Sidikman. Democrat Lavine received 32,545 votes while Republican and Conservative candidate Sciarillo received 17,983 votes and Independence and Working Families candidate Sidikman received 4,331 votes.

Westbury Boys Varsity Soccer Finishes Season 13-1-1
The Westbury Boys Varsity Soccer Team has taken a 180-degree turn from 2003. Last year, the team finished 0-12-1, but for 2004, the current record is 13-1-1, finishing first in conference A4.

Shana Cox Named All-American in Track & Field
USA Track & Field and Verizon named its 2004 All-American Track & Field Team for Junior (under 20) athletes. Eight of the 287 athletes selected from the USA Junior National Championships are from Long Island, including Westbury's own Shana Cox (200m).
