The Westbury School District Board of Education has scheduled a second vote on the district's proposed budget for Tuesday, June 15. The previous vote on the $71,184,386 budget, which was held on Tuesday, May 18, fell 57 votes short of passage.
Operating on a contingency budget this year, the district has been limited in the number of educational programs and extra-curricular activities made available to its students. Fortunately, district administrators have aggressively researched, applied for, and secured entitlement and competitive grants on the state and federal level - which have been the driving force in keeping these programs and activities alive during a time when they would otherwise be cut and eliminated.
Polling will be opened on June 15 from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. at Dryden Street, Drexel Avenue, Park Avenue and the Westbury Middle Schools.
