Westbury Schedules Revote for Proposed School Budget
The Westbury School District Board of Education has scheduled a second vote on the district's proposed budget for Tuesday, June 15. The previous vote on the $71,184,386 budget, which was held on Tuesday, May 18, fell 57 votes short of passage.
Levinson Initiative to Curb Illegal Multi-Family Dwellings
To end the profitability and combat the growth of the illegal conversion of single-family homes to multi-family dwellings, Nassau County Assessor Harvey Levinson unveiled an initiative that will reclassify any illegal multi-family dwelling from Class I (residential) to Class 4 (commercial) property for taxation purposes. On average, the commercial property tax rate is 2 1/2 times higher than the residential rate.

For the third year in a row, thousands of Long Islanders will gather at the Huntington Post Office on Gerard Street on Sunday, June 6 to stomp out the stigma associated with mental illness by participating in the "Long Island Festival & Walk for Mental Health."
Summer Bowl Bonanza at Levittown Lanes and Westbury Bowl
Levittown, Island Trees, East Meadow and Westbury public school students can look forward to the return of a Summer Bowling Bonanza at North and South Levittown Lanes and Westbury Bowl on Friday, June 25 at the beginning of summer vacation. Each day from then until September 6, kids can bowl one free game and receive free shoe rental, courtesy of Levittown Lanes/Westbury Bowl and Shins Tae Kwon Do of Hicksville, co-sponsors for the second consecutive summer.
