Middle School Program Befriends Female Students
Nearly 50 female sixth-grade students at Westbury Middle School (MS) have befriended the school's new "Best Friends" program, a national youth development and character-building curriculum for girls that promotes abstinence from sexual activity, smoking, and drug and alcohol abuse. Westbury MS is the second school in New York State to institute the program, which is facilitated by the Rising Star Bureau of the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. Currently, 48 randomly selected students participate in sessions twice a month during school.

CPCA Meeting Scheduled for February 25 at 8 p.m.
Carle Place Superintendent of Schools Dr. Patricia Hansen will address the community at the Carle Place Civic Association (CPCA) meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. in the high school's north cafeteria. Dr. Hansen will discuss the district's capital improvement bond proposal set to go before the public in the form of a referendum on April 19.
