Jack M. Harris, 91, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, formerly of Westbury, died of natural causes on Dec. 22, 2003 at Gerstenberg Hospice Center, West Palm Beach, FL. He was born Aug. 2, 1912 in Westbury, the son of the late Arthur Harris and Jeannette Harris. He graduated from Westbury High School and was active in sports. He worked for many years for his father at Arthur Harris and Son on Post Ave. where they had a gas station, sold auto, truck and bicycle parts and did repair work on trucks and automobiles in their shop. In later years he worked for Mrs. Corning Howard of Old Westbury. He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening and loved to watch and listen to sports on television as well as radio.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Joyce Harris of Palm Beach Gardens; his daughter, Marsha Frankel of Crofton, MD; sons, Howard Harris of Phoenix, AZ, and Edward Harris of Port Orange, FL; granddaughter, Janeen Spaulding of St. Leonard, MD; two grandsons, Brian Frankel of St. Leonard and 2nd Lt. John Harris of Phoenix; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hilda Finger of Westbury and Estelle Stein of Old Westbury.
Arrangements were made by the I.J. Morris Funeral Home, Hempstead. Burial on Dec. 29 at Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Farmingdale. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charles W. Gerstenberg Hospice Center, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407-2387.
