Ron Cole, Hicks VP of Marketing, Dies at 61
Ronald Cole, 61, the vice president for marketing at Hicks Nurseries in Westbury, died on Nov. 11 of complications from a brain tumor. Mr. Cole, who lived in Holbrook, had moved to South Pasadena, FL earlier this year after being diagnosed.

Credits Not Yet to Roll on Westbury Theatre
Westbury Village officials' hopes that a public auction last Monday would have finally brought an end to a two-year legal battle involving the Post Avenue movie house were put on hold after two new court actions were issued just before the building went on the auction block. The auction was the result of an October ruling by the Nassau County Supreme Court in which the Village of Westbury was awarded the authority to foreclose on the Post Avenue theater and place the property up for public sale.

SUNY Old Westbury Athletes Earn Skyline Honors
The latest crop of Skyline Conference All Stars includes three SUNY College at Old Westbury student athletes. For Lady Panther volleyball standout Jessica Ratchford and Ian Hysell of Panther men's soccer, it is their first Skyline All Star selection while it is the second All Star acknowledgment for Chikwe Azinge.

NIKE, Long Island Track & Field Donate Shoes to Westbury PAL Youngsters
As part of an ongoing program to promote running among young people, NIKE and Long Island Track & Field recently joined forces to donate 600 pairs of running shoes to Long Island youngsters, including those from the Westbury Police Athletic League (PAL) Track & Field Team.
