New Cassel Redevelopment Proposal Launched
The Town of North Hempstead, the North Hempstead Community Development Agency and the Nassau County Economic Development Corporation have issued a request for proposals for the development of seven sites in the unincorporated hamlet of New Cassel. These sites range in size from approximately 10,000 square feet to approximately 56,000 square feet. The total development potential of the seven sites is approximately 375,000 square feet of new construction containing commercial/retail uses and accommodating up to as many as 250 residential units.

Senator Schumer Awards $11.5M Federal Grant to Improve MS Math
United States Senator Chuck Schumer awarded Hofstra University an $11.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation to improve middle school achievement in mathematics and science in 10 Long Island school districts. This grant is the largest in Hofstra's 68-year history.

CP Family Fun Run/Walk Day, a Success
The 24th Annual Family Fun Run/Walk Day held by the Carle Place Association on Sunday, Oct. 19 was a success. The starter of our race was Larry Zaino, past president of the Carle Place Civic Association and a trustee on the Carle Place Board of Education. The Top Male Runner was Michael Goings, a graduate of Carle Place High School, and the Top Female Runner was Lisa Mulvey, a 12th grader at Carle Place High School. The Top Families for the day were the McLaughlin family, in 1st place; the Wang Family, in 2nd place; and the Madey family, in 3rd place. Photographers on hand were Geraldine Carter, Nancy Jarvis, Gina Kristel, Pat Wilde, and Jim Wilde, Jr.
