Corbin brings with her a long history of involvement and dedication to her community and the Democratic Party. She has served as Westbury Democratic Deputy Town Leader, Zone Leader and the party's designee for Council District #1. The mother of four children, Corbin's keen interest in children's issues is evident by her 20 years of service on the Nassau Regional PTA. She also served on the NYS PTA Board of Managers as juvenile protection chairman.
Corbin believes that her campaign slogan, "Let's Make History Together," reflects the historic opportunity that the creation of the new district has presented.
"The adoption of the new district system in the Town of North Hempstead and the creation of a minority district has opened a door of opportunity," said Corbin. "I am ready to walk through that door and to represent the people with fairness and political equality.
"I believe that I can provide this newly formed district with direct and responsive representation to all residents - including the minority population, the elderly, youth and disadvantaged residents," Corbin added. "I will also promote political equality and fairness, and improve and protect the rights of the entire community. We must seize this opportunity."
Corbin retired after 28 years of service as a supervisor of respiratory therapy at North Shore University Hospital and is currently a supervisor of data entry for the Nassau County Board of Elections.
She and her husband, Nassau County Deputy Presiding Officer Roger Corbin, have been residents of Westbury for 44 years.
"I believe that I am the right candidate at the right time, ready to serve the constituents of this district," said Corbin. "That is why I am asking for the support of the residents of District #1 - New Cassel, Old Westbury, Westbury and Carle Place - in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, Sept. 9."
