Once again, Carle Place High School honored its varsity athletes at the Annual Varsity Athletic Awards Dinner held at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place on June 3. The dinner honors all of the varsity teams from each of the three sports seasons with a total of 21 varsity teams. Some 470 people attended the dinner, including members of the board of education, administration, coaches, Athletic Booster Club officers, parents and approximately 200 varsity athletes.

In addition to presenting each varsity athlete with a varsity letter and pin(s), special individual awards were presented to deserving athletes. Carle Place Middle School/High School presented 112 individual scholar-athlete certificates with frames to student-athletes that earned Úquot;AÚquot; Honor Roll status for each of the first three marking periods and who also successfully completed two or more sports this school year.

The school was also proud of the 14 of 19 Athlete Team Awards during the academic year. Special scholarships were also awarded honoring Hank Paris, Stu Ogilvie, Albert Stellato, Michael Capozzi, Stephen Trainor, Martin P. Roach, Daniel W. Cody and Tricia E. Colligan.

The athletic department would like to thank the families, friends and special organizations (Westbury/Carle Place Kiwanis Club and Carle Place PAL Girls' Lacrosse) for their continued generosity and support for our student-athletes. A special thank you to the Carle Place Athletic Booster Club for the donation of scholarship money and for the senior athlete gift (Class of 2003 towels). This dinner could not happen without the continued support of the Carle Place Board of Education and the tremendous work of Debbie Iraci who organizes the event.
