Court Orders Council District Petition Be Upheld
New York State Supreme Court Justice Edward McCarty III last week ruled that a Republican petition requesting a special election on council districts in the Town of North Hempstead be upheld. As a result, the town is planning a special election on the referendum for April 29.

Support Needed for Clarke 'Walk of Remembrance'
In an effort to beautify their campus and raise money for a trip to Florida, the W.T. Clarke High School Softball Program is running a dual fundraiser. The girls varsity softball team is constructing a "Walk of Remembrance," which through the sale of bricks will enable them to not only offset the cost of visiting Disney's Wide World of Sports in Florida this April, but will also pay for dugouts on the high school's fields. In addition, the bricks will serve as permanent memorials to the Clarke community.

Westbury Middle School's 1st Annual Diabetes Walk
Westbury Middle School hosted its 1st Annual Diabetes Walk on Wednesday, Nov. 6, and Thursday, Nov. 7. Students were joined by staff and parents, as they raised funds and awareness for the American Diabetes Association during their regularly scheduled gym classes. By Wednesday morning, students had already brought in $1,500 in sponsorships from their friends, family members and neighbors. The school's two-day fund-raising goal was $2,000.
