Present for the Westbury School District's new Community Technology Center ribbon cutting ceremony earlier this month were Adelaide Brinson, board of education vice president; Floyd Ewing, board of education president; and Dr. Constance Clark, superintendent of Westbury Schools.

Westbury Public Schools debuted its new, state-of-the-art, free Community Technology Center during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, Jan. 13. The new center, open to the public for the first time, will be available Monday through Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

"The Westbury Public Schools' Community Technology Center is integral to our District and community," said Dr. Constance Clark, superintendent of Westbury Public Schools. "It not only serves as an information highway to our student, but to our parents and neighbors as well."

The facility offers brand new desktop computers, free Internet and e-mail access, Microsoft Office and other educational and research software. Two new mobile computer carts equipped with laptops will also be available to students in classrooms and at the center for use by residents enrolled in the district's adult basic education and literacy programs.

The center will also offer access to websites relevant to community interests, including local housing, education, career exploration, library service, immigration and citizenship. Such sites will be bookmarked in the computers.
