Carle Place High School earned its second consecutive Nassau County/Section VIII Class "C" Championship in girls' cross country. Coach Mike Nicoll was proud of the effort given by the team throughout the fall sports season but particularly gratified by the extraordinary effort during the Conference and County Championships held at Bethpage State Park on Oct. 26 and Nov. 2, respectively. The Lady Frogs finished third in Conference IV with 106 points and first in the County "C" Championships. The team finished the season with a very respectable 11-3 Conference IV record.
This year's team was led by co-captains Caitlin McElroy and Lisa Mulvey. Other key members of this year's championship team included Jen Voce, Jenna McLaughlin, Allison Zalesky and Laura Rosenkrantz. The team placed 10th in the New York State Championship meet held at Sunken Meadow State Park on Nov. 9. Lisa Mulvey earned All-New York State honors by finishing 12th in the Class "C" race which included the best 130 runners in the state. Mulvey just finished competing in the New York State Federation Meet held at Bowdoin Park in Poughkeepsie, which included the best female runners in public, Catholic and private schools from all over New York State. She finished near the top one-third of all female runners. In addition, Mulvey has earned All-County honors and teammates Jenna McLaughlin (All-Conference) and Caitlin McElroy (All-Division) were recipients of post-season awards.
Congratulations to Coach Mike Nicoll and the varsity girls' cross country team on their back-to-back Country team on their back-to-back County "C" Championships.
