NEFCU Donates $1,750 Through 'Chances for Charity' Event
Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) in Westbury is proud to announce that donations of $1,000, $500, and $250 were made to the American Cancer Society, the Center for Developmental Disabilities, and the American Heart Association, respectively. The funds were donated as a result of the credit union's "Chances for Charity" event, which launched its new Ambassador Program.
St. Brigid/Our Lady of Hope School Hosts Local Seniors
On Monday, Nov. 25, St. Brigid/Our Lady of Hope School in Westbury hosted its 11th Annual Thanksgiving Liturgy and Luncheon for senior citizens.
Wheatley Students Honored
The Wheatley School Physical Education Department is proud to announce that Jessica Nachman and John Mullins have been selected as Outstanding Physical Education students. Criteria for their selection included exceptional performance in physical education, scholarship, leadership qualities and service to the Wheatley School community. Jessica Nachman and John Mullins were honored for their selection at an awards banquet that was held at the Milleridge Inn on Dec. 9. The awards program is sponsored by the Nassau Zone of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
Frogs Earn 2nd Consecutive Cross Country Class 'C' Title
Carle Place High School earned its second consecutive Nassau County/Section VIII Class "C" Championship in girls' cross country. Coach Mike Nicoll was proud of the effort given by the team throughout the fall sports season but particularly gratified by the extraordinary effort during the Conference and County Championships held at Bethpage State Park on Oct. 26 and Nov. 2, respectively. The Lady Frogs finished third in Conference IV with 106 points and first in the County "C" Championships. The team finished the season with a very respectable 11-3 Conference IV record.
