Petition Filed Against Town
Last week, North Hempstead Republicans filed a petition with the town clerk to hold a town-wide referendum on the creation of a council district system. The petition, which includes 3,895 signatures, is pursuant to Section 81 of the New York State Town Law requiring a referendum be held within the next 60 to 75 days, bringing the referendum before voters between the end of December 2002 and the second week of January 2003.
Notice of Claim Filed Against Library
Westbury resident Joan Boes, a former employee at the Westbury Public Library, recently filed a $1.5 million notice of claim against the library. In the claim, Boes, who worked at the library for over 20 years before being let go earlier this year, alleges several key points including, but not limited to negligence, discrimination, breach of contract, breach of duty and harassment.
Runners Invited to Participate in 'Rob's Run'
Runners from throughout Long Island are invited to be a part of the 10th annual edition of Long Island Blood Services Rob's Run, the annual late Fall 5 Kilometer cross country run, which will be held Dec. 1 at the Town of Oyster Bay's Stillwell Woods Park in Syosset.
