Thomas Sobczak, Jr. is a candidate for the 17th A.D.

Westbury resident Thomas Sobczak, Jr. recently announced he is the Democratic candidate for the 17th Assembly District (A.D.) He will run against current Assemblywoman Maureen O'Connell (R-East Williston) this November.
Sobczak is an independent technology consultant. He serves on the board of Dependable Home Health Care Corporation, is a founding member and the first president of the Nassau County Civil War Round Table and a member of the Society for Military History concentrating on military science and technology and veterans affairs. He also serves on the board of the Friends of Nassau County Recreation and the Town of North Hempstead Traffic Safety Commission.
On a local front, Sobczak is chairman of the Carle Place Public Library Funding Committee and a founding member of the Carle Place School District Technology Planning Committee and has served on the district's Budget Advisory Committee and Cherry Lane Elementary School Buildings and Planning Team. He also coaches two Carle Place Soccer Club teams.
The 17th A.D. includes the communities, in whole or part, of Albertson, Carle Place, East Meadow, East Williston, East Garden City, Garden City Park, Garden City, Garden City South, Merrick, North Merrick, Mineola, New Hyde Park, North New Hyde Park, North Bellmore, Roosevelt, Uniondale, Westbury and Williston Park.
