Now, with the deadline for signed petitions come and gone, Republican Daniel Frisa of Salisbury is challenging the nominating petitions submitted by opponents Alan Skorski of West Hempstead and Marilyn O'Grady and Steve Irace of Garden City.

Liberal Party to Appeal Supreme Court Decision
The Nassau County Liberal Party is in the process of appealing a State Supreme Court decision stating that Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy's (D-Mineola) name be removed from the party's line this November. Earlier this month, Republican candidate Daniel Frisa of Salisbury successfully bumped McCarthy from the Liberal line, alleging she did not secure the required number of signatures to remain on the party's ballot.

Swim-A-Cross Raises Funds in Memory of Those Lost
Several local residents participated in the American Red Cross (ARC) of Nassau County's 13th Annual Swim-A-Cross on Friday, Aug. 16 at Centre Island Beach in Bayville. This year, 163 swimmers - 47 who swam in memory of a loved one who perished on September 11, 2001 - came out to raise funds for the ARC, a nationwide organization that helps people in tragic emergencies.
