Improving Westbury's Business District
Several stores within Westbury's business district have recently received a facelift. Through a collaborative effort coordinated by the Village of Westbury between the Westbury Business Improvement District (BID), Nassau County Department of Housing and Intergovernmental Affairs and business owners, commercial businesses along Post Avenue and its side streets now have the opportunity to erect new signs and renovate their exterior structures with very little out-of-pocket costs.

Suozzi Announces Empire Zones for New Cassel
Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi and Legislator Roger Corbin recently announced the new Empire Zones have been approved for New Cassel, a step that will establish "tax-free" business sites to help spark new private sector investment, job creation and economic expansion for the local community. Empire Zones have also been approved for the Village of Hempstead.

Kobak, Tennis Champion
Elizabeth Kobak of Old Westbury recently reached the quarterfinals of the USTA Girls 14 Super National (tennis) Championships in College Park, GA. The USTA Girls 14 Super Nationals is the primary national championship for girls in the 14-and-under division. Former champions include Jennifer Capriati and Lindsay Davenport.
