A host of celebrities from stage, screen, television and sports have signed commemorative golf shirts and/or provided other items to Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services for a silent auction that will serve as just one of the highlights of the Hicksville-based organization's 3rd Annual Golf Outing. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Colonial Springs Golf Course in Farmingdale.

This year's golf outing will honor Barbara Bartell, chief executive officer of Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services. Bartell will be honored during the outing's outdoor barbecue dinner for her vision and leadership that has helped to shape Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services for the past 30 years. Bartell is a respected social worker and admired leader in the mental health and substance abuse fields on Long Island. In addition to her role as CEO for Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services, she has also given her time and energy to support numerous allied organizations on Long Island, including the United Way of Long Island, the Coalition of Voluntary Mental Health Agencies and Women Economic Developers of Long Island.

Among the celebrities that have already signed shirts and photographs are actor/director Rob Reiner (All In The Family), television personalities Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond), Bob Barker (The Price Is Right) and Jay Leno (The Tonight Show), comedienne Joan Rivers, the cast of Good Day New York, actresses Valerie Harper (Rhoda) and Shirley Jones (The Partridge Family) and basketball legend Walt Frazier. Members of the New York City Fire Department will be signing a special "Heroes" golf shirt. Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger has donated a signed copy of his book, the New Encyclopedia of Body Building, and the cast of the Sopranos has signed an original script of the series' pilot episode.
