The Nassau Police Department Emergency Services Unit received a call for an overturned pickup truck at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Wright Street in Westbury at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Friday, July 19.

Within minutes, the Westbury Fire Department was toned out as well. Upon arrival of the Nassau Police 2nd Precinct units, the department advised dispatch that the accident actually involved two vehicles, including an 18-wheeler carrying a storage container. The pickup truck was not only overturned, but flattened as well.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured and the occupants of the pickup truck were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. An officer from the Emergency Services unit received a laceration to his head while pulling a victim out of the overturned vehicle.
