The Board of Trustees and staff of the Westbury Memorial Public Library would like to congratulate Superintendent of School's Dr. Constance Clark and her staff in the achievement of their students on the eighth grade reading test that is administered statewide. The Westbury eighth graders improved their scores by 20 percent from 2001. The community should be proud of the district's achievements.

The library staff supports the school's efforts to improve our children's reading skills and interests with a broad selection of books, librarians to help children choose books they'll enjoy and summer reading clubs. We hope to see Westbury families at the library this summer. It's essential for students to continue to read during the vacation months to help keep their achievement high during the school year.

Cathleen A. Towey

Director, Westbury Memorial Public Library
