John M. "Jack" Schwan Jr., formerly of Westbury, died on June 28, 2002, at his home in Rhinebeck, NY. Mr. Schwan was a retired horticulturist with Pitcher & Sons anemone greenhouses of Rhinebeck. He served during WWII in the Pacific Theater with the US Navy and later received a degree in horticulture from Alfred University. Born Aug. 31, 1923 in Far Rockaway and raised in Westbury, he was the son of John M. Schwan Sr. and Margaret Grimm Schwan. Husband of Anna "Ann" M. Knipfing Schwan, who survives him at home. Father of Paul Schwan of Red Hook, NY, and Julie and Victor Good of Lakewood, CO. Grandfather of Nathan Dykeman. Brother-in-law of Helen Schwan of Westbury. Uncle of one nephew and two nieces. Predeceased by a brother, Robert Schwan. Arrangements were made by Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, Rhinebeck, with burial at Rhinebeck Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rhinebeck Lions Club, PO Box 124, Rhinebeck, NY 12572, to be used for the beautification and lanscpaing of their park.
Elizabeth Ann Oborne, of Westbury, died on July 12, 2002. Daughter of Rod Oborne and Roberta Charles Oborne. Stepdaughter of Joyce Oborne. Sister of Wendy L. Oborne and Patrick Nilon, Roberta J. Oborne, Keith E. and Shannon Oborne. Aunt of Molly Oborne, Meg Nilon, Rick Nilon, Eliza Oborne, Johanna Nilon, Mark Nilon and Miles Oborne. Memorial service at the Ethical Humanist Society.
Albert Krysinski, a longtime resident of Westbury, died on July 12, 2002. He was retired from Local 66. Husband of Lucille (nee Pasquarelli). Father of Arlen Fielder (the late George), Thomas (Cathy) and the late James "Krinkles" (Patricia). Grandfather of nine. Great-grandfather of 11. Brother of Ben, Edward "Monk" and the late Anthony "Butch," Helen Krysinski and Frances Koveleski. Arrangements were made by the Donohue Cecere Funeral Home, Wesbury. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Brigid's RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
