Community Support Needed to Help Save Daughter
In 2000, former Westbury resident Angela Hinton-Diedro, 37, was diagnosed with a form of cancer known as Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (NHL). She has since undergone various forms of treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation and stem cell transplant. When the stem-cell transplant, performed last spring at the Dana-Farmer Clinic in Boston, was unsuccessful, experts at the clinic suggested that Hinton-Diedro receive a bone marrow transplant.

Politically active for the past 20 years, Republican Alan Skorski of West Hempstead said the 4th Congressional District needs new blood. A self-professed political and news junkie, Skorski said he's longed to take part in the process.

Sacco Named to Men's Lacrosse Program
Westbury resident Christopher Sacco was a member of the 2002 Eastern Connecticut State University's men's lacrosse program. Sacco, a senior, has earned four varsity letters in the program. He is a 1998 graduate of W.T. Clarke High School.

Wheatley's Track Stars
Senior captains of the Wheatley Girls Track Team recently received awards. Crystal Marsonia was all division in the high hurdles and winner of the Scholar-Athlete Award, Shira Rosenberg placed fourth in the division championship, Shiren Hassani was all division in three events and the team's Wild Cat Award winner, Karisma Patel was the recipient of the Walter Wathey Award for athletic excellence and outstanding service to the Wheatley School and Dorothy Nederman was the recipient of the Unsung Hero Award for dedication and commitment to the team.
