The State University of New York College at Old Westbury's baseball team is currently ranked fifth in its region, according to the first American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball (ABCA) poll of the season.

ABCA Pollster Mike Falk, based at Muhlenberg College, notes that the 9-5 Panthers have more wins than any other team ranked in the region. In the ranking, Old Westbury follows, in order, RPI, Ithaca, Cortland and RIT.

The ABCA has more than 5,500 members, including coaches from every state in the country and over 200 international members. Its main objective of the association is educational in nature to help improve the level of coaching. ABCA assists in the promotion of baseball and acts as a sounding board and spokesperson on issues concerning the various levels of baseball.
