The Wheatley School's Varsity Girls' Indoor Track team was recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) for academic excellence.

The Scholar/Athlete Award Program, which was initiated by NYSPHSAA 11 years ago, recognized athletic teams from across New York State for the academic performance of its team members. Based upon the 12 highest grade point averages (GPA) among team members, team champions are selected for each varsity sport from those high schools entering competition.

Wheatley's Girls' Indoor Track team achieved a collective GPA of 97.114, which was one of the highest team academic averages. This significant achievement is a credit to the athletes with the long hours of practice and competition required to successfully compete in interscholastic athletics at the varsity level.

Congratulations to Coach Joe Kelly, who entered his team in the scholar/athlete competition, and the following team scholar/athletes:

Nicole Hitti

Erin Johnson
