Wheatley Field Hockey Team Receives Recognition
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) recently informed Wheatley High School that its varsity field hockey team has been recognized for academic excellence. The Scholar-Athlete Recognition Program, which was initiated by NYSPHSAA 11 years ago, recognizes team academic excellence based on the cumulative grade point average of a representative number of team members. A statewide Scholar-Athlete Team Champion is selected in each sport.

Wheatley Boys Soccer Completes Championship Season
Under the leadership of Coach Bernie Hintz, the Wheatley Boys Soccer Team recently completed the second most successful season in t he history of the sport at Wheatley. During Coach Hintz's 30-year tenure as coach of the Wildcat Soccer program, his teams have won 10 Conference championships, 7 Nassau county titles and three Southeast Regional Championships. In 1983 Coach Hintz and the Wildcats won the New York State Class "C" Championship.
