Charles Water Karate & Fitness, located at 122 Hillside Avenue, has announced that several students have successfully completed their requirements and have passed the test for 1st Degree Black Belt and 2nd Degree Black Belt. The time and training for these degrees of excellence range from four to eight years of training.

The new black belts are shown.

The United States Soo Bahk Do Federation recently held its Region Two Dan Testing in Springfield, NJ. This was the 108th Dan (Korean term for Black Belt.) The testing was attended by the technical advisor and Master Water's instructor Master H.C. Hwang.

Region Two is one of 10 regions throughout the United States. Every region conducts their own Dan (Black Belt) testing twice per year. Region 2 consists of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The United States Soo Bahk Do Federation has over 250 affiliate schools throughout the country and 50 more worldwide. Charles Water is a licensed instructor through this federation. The studio has a certification from the Soo Bahk Do Federation which assures that the curriculum is standardized.

"Achieving the rank of Black Belt is a symbol of excellence in the martial arts. It gives the individual a tremendous sense of accomplishment and self worth. The Black Belt represents a total of character development and improvement of the inner self, what you have by achieving your Black Belt is not nearly as important as what you become," commented Charles Water.

The following student achieved his goal.
