Martha Heidtmann, 94, of Athens, OH, died on Aug. 14, 2001 at Kimes Convalescent Center, Athens. Daughter of the late John and Fanny Moritz Vogelbach, she was born March 28, 1907 in Jamaica, NY. Mrs. Heidtmann was a homemaker. She was a longtime resident of Westbury and East Norwich. She and her husband moved to Ohio in 1991. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Westbury. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Peter Heidtmann and Linda Collins of Athens and Denis and Eve Heidtmann of Portland, OR; three grandchildren, Stephen Heidtmann of Burbank, CA, Ann Gadrim of Nelsonville, OH, and Evan Heidtmann of Portland; one great-granddaughter, Sophia Gadrim of Nelsonville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Wallace H. Heidtmann (March 1998); three sisters and four brothers. Arrangements were made by Jagers Funeral Home, Athens. Memorial graveside service for both Wallace and Martha will be conducted on Oct. 13 at Westbury Friends Cemetery by Fr. Krantz. Thomas Strada, an employee of Cantor Fitzgerald, was lost in the tragic World Trade Center disaster on Sept. 11. Thomas was 41 years old, born on July 1, 1960. Son of Mayor Ernest and Mary Ann Strada of Westbury. He was a brother to Joseph and Michael and sisters Susan and Jennifer.

Thomas attended St. Brigid's School in Westbury and was a graduate of St. Dominic's of Oyster Bay and Nassau Community College. For three years after graduation he was associated with the Jupiter Island Golf Club of Jupiter, FL and held a PGA card pursuing a brief career in the golf world. Subsequently, in 1983 he became a bond broker working at KMS, MKI Securities, three years at Cowan & Company and recently achieving a partnership on his desk at Cantor Fitzgerald, where he joined his colleagues in 1995.
He and his wife Terry, daughter of Hall of Fame harness driver George Sholty, lived in Chatham, NJ for the past seven years. He is survived by his son Thomas Joseph 7, his daughter Kaitlyn Claire 4, and his newborn son Justin Thomas, born on Sept. 7 only four days before his tragic passing.
Thomas was an active outdoorsman, enjoying harness racing, deer hunting, golf and his lifelong passion, fishing. A fishing devotee from the time he was old enough to cast a lure, he looked forward to the chance to become a professional bass fisherman upon his retirement.
A memorial Mass for Thomas will be offered at St. Brigid's Roman Catholic Church in Westbury on Friday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be forwarded to the Strada Children Family Trust, First Republic Bank, 320 Park Avenue, New York City, NY 10022.
