Christopher Sacco, a resident of Westbury and a 1998 graduate of W.T. Clarke High School, was a member of the 2001 Eastern Connecticut State University Lacrosse program. A junior, he has earned three varsity letters in the program.
The Warriors concluded their sixth intercollegiate season with a program-record 88.2 winning percentage (15-2) and tied the program record for wins while being chosen as one of only four at-large teams to their first - ever NCAA Division III tournament.
ECSU won a program-record 11 matches to open the season and lost only one match during the regular season - to former NCAA Division III national champion Washington College (MD). Both of the team's losseswere the result of two goals.
The Warriors won all six of their Little East Conference matches and won two conference tournament matches by a combined score of 40-8 to capture the first conference crown.
ECSU concluded the regular season ranked fourth in New England and tied for 14th nationally.
Among the team's wins were a 18-12 win over Wesleyan University - the Cardinal's only regular season loss - as well as victories over perennial New England powers Trinity (+11 - 6), Colby (+ 16 - 7) and Babson (+8 - 2).
Through the regular season, Eastern was ranked second nationally in scoring offense (17.13) third in scoring margin (+10.56) and 10th in scoring defense (6.56).
In six years under head coach Rick McCarthy, ECSU has won 78 and lost 16 (83.0 percent), won five conference regular-season and four conference tournament titles and qualified for three post-season tournaments. Prior to this past year, ECSU was a member of the Pilgrim League.
