Bannie Lymorise Holloway

Bannie Lymorise Holloway, 67, of Westbury, died on May 30, 2001 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset after a long battle with breast cancer. Born and raised in Darlington, SC, as the youngest daughter of Jaygule and Estelle Hunter, Holloway received her bachelor's degree in business education from Benedict College in 1956. She received a certificate in keypunch in 1957 from Dorothy E. Kane School of Business in NYC and a certificate in word processing in 1996 from Hunter Business School in Levittown.

She married Thomas Carvin Holloway in 1962 and spent a few years in Washington, DC, before moving to New York to settle down and raise a family. Her two daughters, Sybil and Chandra, reside in Bloomsburg, PA, and Westbury respectively.

Holloway worked as an IBM keypunch operator and verifier at The Bank of NY and Zales Jewelry Company, both located in NYC. Then she moved to Washington, DC, where she was employed as a children's counselor at Junior Village Children's Center. After returning to NY, she became a case worker for the Welfare Dept. of the NYC Dept. of Social Services and then she spent 24 years as a hospital care investigator in the Patient Accounts section of Harlem Hospital in NYC. After retiring in June 1995, she spent a brief period of time working at Ultra Sound Diagnostic School in Carle Place and Publisher's Clearinghouse in Syossest.

A member of Convent Avenue Baptist Church in NYC, Holloway enjoyed bingo, reading, shopping and taking occasional trips to Atlantic City. She was also a member of the Central Westbury Civic Association.

Surviving are her husband and both daughters as well as her sister Dorothy Ezekiel, and her two brothers Angus James Hunter and Jaygule Hunter II who reside in Darlington, SC. Both of her parents are deceased.

A wake was arranged by the Donohue Cecere Funeral Home, Westbury. Funeral service at Convent Avenue Baptist Church. Burial Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, 19 W. 56th St., New York, NY 10019 (212-237-3800).
