Richard Fenster Completes 1,100-Mile Walk for Gift of Life
Marathon walker Richard Fenster, a Carle Place resident, last week completed his 1,100-mile journey by foot, from Florida to New York, to raise funds for the Rotary Gift of Life program. Fenster was greeted by supporters as he headed down Westbury Avenue in Carle Place on May 10. He made his way to Carle Place Middle School on Cherry Lane, where he was cheered by students and presented with donations for the organization.
Legislators Back Westbury Homeowners on Sump Issue
Following opposition to the proposed sale of the Carman Avenue Sumps expressed last week by residents of Westbury, both the local county legislator for the area and the head of the Legislature have voiced support for those concerned homeowners.
Old Westbury Resident to Chair Hospital's Golf Classic
On Monday, June 4, St. Francis Hospital will hold its 27th Annual Golf Classic at three of Long Island's prestigious golf courses: The Creek Club in Locust Valley, Meadow Brook Club in Jericho and Fresh Meadow Country Club in Lake Success. The event, chaired by Old Westbury's James D'Addario, president, J. D'Addario & Co., supports St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center, the only designated Heart Center in New York State.
Basketball Clinic Presented at Westbury P.A.L.
A basketball clinic will be presented at Westbury P.A.L. in upcoming weeks, for local youth. Coach Michael Jackson will present a 4-week session, Conditioning and the Fundamentals of Basketball, with 10 participants per class. There is a $100 fee for the program. Four-week sessions will begin May 22 and end June 14, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with the following schedule: Tuesday - Boys Ages 7 to 9, Wednesday - Girls Ages 8 to 10, Thursday - Boys Ages 10 to 12. Westbury P.A.L. is located at 346 Post Avenue, Westbury.
