Cara LiMongelli, a resident of Westbury, was recently named Athlete of the Week at the State University of New York at Oneonta. This rookie pitcher shined in helping the Red Dragons earn back-to-back weekend splits against Geneseo and Brockport. In the four games overall, she appeared in three of them with one start and picked up two wins in the process.

LiMongelli pitched an inning of relief in an 8-1 loss against Geneseo in game one of a doubleheader and then came in and shut down the knights in the second game to earn a 6-5 win. LiMongelli pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed three hits, one unearned run while striking out five.

The next day, she came back and in the second game against Brockport picked up a 7-2 win. She went the distance allowing five hits while striking out three batters.

LiMongelli is currently 2-2 on the season and leads the team with a 1.52 ERA and 16 strikeouts.
