Legislator Rich Nicolello's new campaign web site has gone on-line. the web site (www.nicolello.com) contains extensive information regarding Nicolello's record in office and background. There are also interactive features for citizens to volunteer or contribute to the campaign, as well as communicate their thoughts.

"Through breathtaking advances in technology, we are able to obtain and exchange information on a scale previously unimaginable," said Nicolello. "These technological advances give candidates and elected officials a greater ability to communicate with and inform constituents than ever before. I believe that it is important to take advantage of the opportunities created by the 'information revolution' to enable more citizens to become informed and involved in the electoral process and their government."

Nicolello, who is known for intense grassroots campaigning, also commented on how the web site will be used as part of his campaign for re-election. "While the web site will never take the place of personal contact, it allows me to communicate more detail about my record and background. Printed campaign literature necessarily limits the amount of information that can be provided. The web site increases the amount of information, and provides a ready means for citizens to submit their comments and suggestions and request additional information," said Nicolello.

In his 1995 campaign for the Legislature, Nicolello was one of the first candidates for office on Long Island to use a web site as part of a political campaign. In addition to the campaign web site, Nicolello has a page on the Nassau County web site: http://www.co.nassau.ny.us/legislat/9.htm.
