On Saturday, March 3, Our Lady of Hope's fifth grade girls basketball team was awarded CYO's highest honor, the Sportsmanship Award. At ceremonies held at St. Ignatius School in Hicksville, the team, coached by John DiFrisco and Doug Kennedy, was one of 45 teams out of more than 400 in Nassau and Suffolk to receive the award.

The squad, one of three fifth-grade girls teams from Our Lady of Hope, includes Danica Destefano, Julianne DiFrisco, Lauren Gunn, Nicole Gurule, Dayna Guadagno, Shannon Kelly, Kristen Kennedy, Alisha Mattondo, Danielle Montello and Svetla Stoyanova.
